Darkness and Light
I’m caught between darkness and light
I look to the left and all there is
Is darkness
No life to sustain
Just complete blackness, as a void
I look to the right and all I see
Is light
A garden with all the delights of spring bloom
A gentle, flowing, brook, without interruption
If I could paint the blackness
I’d place the moon on the velvet backing
Then I’d sprinkle some stars
That sparkle, like diamonds with a myriad of color
If I could darken the light a bit or two
I would make it a golden glow that
Everyone would appreciate
I’m caught between darkness and light
To the left it’s black
To the right it’s white
With no shades of gray in the middle
I look to the left and all there is
Is darkness
No life to sustain
Just complete blackness, as a void
I look to the right and all I see
Is light
A garden with all the delights of spring bloom
A gentle, flowing, brook, without interruption
If I could paint the blackness
I’d place the moon on the velvet backing
Then I’d sprinkle some stars
That sparkle, like diamonds with a myriad of color
If I could darken the light a bit or two
I would make it a golden glow that
Everyone would appreciate
I’m caught between darkness and light
To the left it’s black
To the right it’s white
With no shades of gray in the middle
