Home At Last

Chapter 12
Paul walked around his house, taking note of everything he needed to replace and things that he wanted gone. Emily had really fucked up his family home. While it hadn’t been much of a home, he did have a few good memories after his father walked out. Searching through the hall closet, he’d found a box of old photos and mementos of his mother’s. Finding that, he made it his mission to make his house into the home he’d always wanted it to be.
As he sat on his couch, a beer beside him and the TV playing reruns of Seinfeld, he made a list of things he needed to order or pick up. When he looked away from his notebook, his eyes landed on a framed photo of himself, Sam and Bella. She stood in between them, laughing about something as the pair of them had their arms around her waist. It had been taken a few days before she’d left for college. He was surprised it had survived Emily’s tirade.
He stood up and walked over to the picture frame. Picking it up, he looked at her smiling face, tracing it with his finger. With a sigh, he set the frame down, walked to his fridge to get another beer and out to his front porch. He stared at the night sky and thought about his Alpha’s imprint. He was in love with her, he could admit that. He’d tried to hide it, but sometimes his thoughts got away from him and he felt sure that Sam knew. He only hoped that Bella never found out. There could never be anything between them anyway, so there was no need for her to know. He was so lost in his head, he never heard anyone walk up until they spoke.
“You know, you can’t hide all of your thoughts from me.”
Paul smirked, “I can damn sure try.”
“Paul, I know how you feel about her. I’ve caught snippets.”
He sighed and met Sam’s eyes, “I’m sorry, Sam. I’ll try to control my thoughts. She doesn’t ever have to know.”
“She already does,” Sam sat beside him on the porch steps. “I told her a few days ago.”
“What the fuck, Sam! She doesn’t need to know.”
Sam looked at his brother, “Relax, Paul, I didn’t tell her it was you. I just said that I had picked up on some thoughts.”
Paul nursed his beer silently, not wanting to ask what he wanted to know, but curiosity got the better of him. “How did she take it?”
Sam looked up at the stars, “You know Bella. She was more worried about how I felt about it. She also wanted to know who, but I told her it wasn’t my place to say. She did promise to keep an open mind.”
“How are you sitting here so calmly, Sam? I have romantic feelings for your mate. Why aren’t you trying to kill me?”
“I’m gonna be perfectly honest with you, Paul, I don’t know. I have no feelings of jealousy or anger toward you at all. You’re still my brother and she’s my mate, but my wolf knows you aren’t a threat. If that makes any sense.”
“Knowing her as well as I do, it does.” Paul looked at his friend. “What do you want me to do here, Sam? She’s yours.”
“She’s not mine. She may be my mate, my imprint, but she is still her own woman. Bella has always cared about you, Paul. Yes, she cares for the pack, but you’ve got a special place. Just be yourself and we’ll just have to see what happens. I don’t have any other answers right now.”

Bella walked into her house after dinner with her friends and hollered for Sam. When she got no answer, she wearily climbed the stairs and headed straight for the bathroom. After taking a quick shower, she dried off and climbed between the sheets of the bed she shared with Sam. She didn’t bother putting anything on anymore, his heat kept her plenty warm. She was out as soon as her head hit the pillow.
She was dreaming, she knew she was. She walked along the beach, Sam on her left side. She was wearing a white sleeveless dress that barely brushed the sand and had a slit in the slide all the way up to her hip. She could feel the wind blowing through her long hair. Looking at the man at her side, she saw he was wearing a pair of tan linen pants and a white shirt, completely unbuttoned and billowing in the breeze. She was dreaming of their wedding.
Sam walked into their bedroom and stood in the doorway, watching his mate as she smiled in her sleep. When she moaned his name, he stepped forward and slowly lowered the sheet covering her. He wasn’t surprised to find her naked, as he knew he kept her warm enough.
Starting at the bottom of the bed, Sam kissed her toes up to her ankles, continuing up her calf. He concentrated on the back of her knees as Bella moaned and rolled to her back. Sam smiled as he moved around to the front, kissing and nipping his way up to where he could smell her arousal was the most potent.
Bella continued to walk along the beach, feeling the warm water lapping over her feet and ankles. She laughed when Sam picked her up and carried her further into the warm water, letting flow over her thighs. She could feel that warmth lapping at her nether regions as she clung to her mate, moaning in pleasure.
Sam parted her wet folds with his tongue, making a long lick from bottom to top and then focusing his attention on her swollen pearl. He could sense Bella was waking when she moaned low in her throat and her hand came to his head.
Bella slowly woke when the warm sensation between her legs increased. Blinking open her eyes, she moaned and arched her back. Looking down, she saw Sam staring at her from his position at her wet pussy.
“Oh, Sam...don’t stop,” she moaned as she reached down and grasped his hair.
Sam continued his ministrations, not stopping until he had brought Bella to orgasm more than once. He crawled up her body, pressing his lips to all of her skin along the way. When he reached her lips, Bella pulled his face down to hers, tasting herself on his lips.
“Baby,” Sam groaned as he kissed her deeply, pouring all of his love into the kiss.
“Please, Sam,” Bella opened her legs wider to accommodate his larger form. “I need you inside me, baby.”
Sam shifted his hips and reached between them, lining his cock up with her entrance and slid inside, both of them groaning at the contact. He slowly pulled back and then pushed back in, setting a languid pace. They made love into the night and when they finally came together, neither wanted to separate.
Sam stared down at her and ran his hand over her sweaty cheek. “I love you so much, Bella.”
Grasping his hand in hers, “I love you too. I was having the most amazing dream.”
Sam rolled off her and pulled her to his chest. “Oh yeah? What about?”
Bella traced a pattern on his chest and smiled. “I think it was our wedding. We were on the beach and I was wearing a white dress.”
“Hmm...I bet you were gorgeous.” He ran his fingers through her dark hair, “So the girl who never wanted to get married has pictured her own wedding. I find that amusing.”
“It’s not that I never wanted to get married, honey. I just didn’t want to marry a vampire.” It was the first time since she’d come home from school and the imprint they had spoken about her past relationship. “Before he abandoned me, that was all he talked about. Edward always wanted more from me than I wanted to give, aside from my blood.” She sat up and put her chin on his chest, “I’ve realized over the past several years and since being with you, he dazzled me. I think that’s why those months after they left were so hard.”
“I hate them, Bella. They could have killed you with their thrall,” Sam growled. “If they ever show their faces back here again, the treaty is void.”
“Calm down, Sam, we don’t need you phasing in the bedroom.” Bella stroked his arm and chest, calming him with her soothing touch. “I don’t think they will ever come back, but if they do we’ll face them together. Now get some sleep. You have patrol and I have to work.”
Snuggling into his embrace, Bella allowed his heat to lull her to sleep, while Sam took comfort in her scent by burying his nose in her hair. Both slept soundly, dreaming of their future wedding.

Bella woke before Sam and got out of bed to put on her running clothes, just as a low howl broke the silence. Sam was up like a shot, took the time to kiss Bella before running out the door and phasing when he hit the back yard. Chuckling, she ran down the steps and pulled on her sneakers, before running out the door toward the beach.
She hadn’t been running long when she felt a presence beside her. Thinking it was Leah again, she said nothing and kicked up her pace a bit knowing she would need to keep up with the she-wolf. It wasn’t until she heard the deep chuckle next to her that she looked up.
“Paul?”
“Morning, Kitten. Mind if I join you?”
Grinning, “I thought you were Leah.”
“Ah,” he laughed. “That explains the kick up of speed. Well come on, let's do this.”
Paul had decided during his patrol that he would take Sam’s advice and just be himself around Bella. She had always been one of his best friends and, regardless how he felt, he wasn’t going to lose that.
