Chapter 17
“Everything looks good, Kim.” Bella wiped the gel from the ultrasound from her friend’s stomach. “The baby’s growth is right on track.” Kim smiled as she sat up with Jared’s help. “Do you have any questions for me?”
“When will I feel it start moving?”
“Generally not until you’re about eighteen weeks, but some can feel flutters as early as twelve. Although I’m sure with his super senses, Jared can probably feel it now.”
Kim nodded, “He can. It’s just so annoying, I feel like he’s getting all the first that I want. I’m glad he can hear the heartbeat, but I want to feel my child too.”
Bella sympathized with her friend, “I know how you feel, Kim. Sam and Paul can feel this one and it drives me nuts.”
“Could you tell the gender, Bells?” Jared wanted to know.
“No. Kim’s only just fourteen weeks, so it’s still a little soon. Plus your little bean wouldn’t show me anything that would allow me to determine it. We can try at your next appointment.”
Kim nodded and the pair of them walked out with Bella. Kim asked her how everything was going, especially with her two imprints.
“Things are better now. Last month it was awkward for a few days after I had a certain need that wouldn’t be satisfied by one of them alone. But I think we’ve finally worked through it.”
“Let me guess, your hormones got the better of you and you needed them at the same time?”
“Yeah,” Bella sighed. “When Paul imprinted on me, that was the one thing we agreed on. It would be completely separate. Sam and Paul could barely be in the same room together for a week afterward. Trust me, while I enjoyed it, it will never happen again.”
“So when do you move?”
“Sam said the house is ready, he’s just waiting for all the paint fumes to air out. He says he doesn’t want me and the baby around it.”
“I’m so excited to see it. Jared says it’s huge.” Kim clapped.
Any further conversation was stopped when someone came running in the clinic, carrying a battered looking Angela.
“Jesus!” Bella sprang into action screaming over her shoulder for someone to find Jake. “What happened?” Bella questioned as started assessing the injuries to her friend.
“I found her car wrapped around a tree two blocks over. It was smoking under the hood and there was fluid pouring out of the engine. It was faster to bring her here than to Forks.”
Nathan Redfeather ran into the trauma room to see what was going on. “What do we have, Bella?”
“I don’t know yet, I’ve barely started. She’s got a head laceration, but it doesn’t look serious.” She put her stethoscope to her ears and listened to her lungs. “She has good breath sounds bilaterally.” The pair of them continued their assessments, discovering a fractured wrist and a broken leg, but other than some cuts and bruises, she was very lucky.
Doc Redfeather left things in Bella’s capable hands and moved on to see other patients. After running the typical blood tests, cleaning up her cuts and sewing up her head lac, Bella moved Angela to a regular room and went out to find Jake.
She found the entire pack in the waiting room. Jake looked up when Bella turned the corner. “How is she?”
Bella smiled softly, “She’s going to be fine. She has some stitches in her head, a fractured wrist and a broken leg, but other than that, nothing serious. I’m waiting on some blood work to come back, but I’m sure that's all fine too.”
Jake pulled her into a tight hug, causing her to gasp, before he let her go. “Thanks, Bells.”
“Come on, I’ll take you to see her.” Jake followed Bella down the corridor and nearly cried when he saw his bruised imprint laying in the hospital bed.
“Go sit with her. I’ll come back when her blood tests are in.” Jake nodded, but said nothing, only having eyes for his mate.
Bella walked back down to the waiting area where the rest of the pack remained. Sam and Paul were immediately at her side, while Jared looked at her in awe.
“I’ve never seen you move that fast, Bells. You just totally took charge.”
Bella smiled, “It’s my job, Jelly-bean.” Looking at all of them, “Has anyone looked at her car? I mean...”
Embry nodded, “We know what you mean, Bells. We had it towed over to the shop. Quil and I will take a look in a little while.”
No one wanted to consider that there was foul play with Angela’s accident, but since it was the beginning of October, no one was taking any chances. Bella looked up as the phone rang. Walking over to the desk, she picked up the receiver. “Bella Lahote-Uley,” she listened for a moment. “Okay, thanks.”
Sam and Paul both smiled, loving the way her name sounded with theirs. While Bella and Sam were the ones that were legally married, Paul and Bella had done a handfasting ceremony with Billy officiating.
Sam thought back over the day Bella had become his wife. She had looked gorgeous in the white dress she had dreamed of wearing, her hair flowing down her back in soft curls. They had gotten married a week after her birthday, in a private ceremony with the pack imprints and her parents. Old Quil had officiated, joining them as one. It had been a perfect day. Later that evening, Billy had married her and Paul, just as the three of them had decided.
Both men had tattooed their ring fingers since they couldn’t wear rings while they phased, but Bella wore one for each of them on a chain around her neck. For her, Sam had picked out her engagement ring, a princess cut diamond set in black rhodium, while Paul had chosen the band to match with channel set diamonds. She loved them on sight.
“Angela’s test results are in. I have to go.” Bella said to her husbands. “I’ll be home in about an hour.”
Both men kissed her and then followed the rest of the pack to the shop to find out what happened with Angela’s car, while Bella walked in her room to give her friend good news.

Bella, Sam and Paul had moved into their new home and were getting their respective spaces set up. The shared spaces were a combination of things from Paul’s and Sam’s. Their individual couple spaces were a reflection of their relationships with each other.
In her space with Sam it was all soft and plush blankets and pillows, even if the blankets were rarely used. Her space with Paul was no less comfortable, but it definitely showed the wilder side they had with each other. Even with her pregnancy, Paul wasn’t afraid to pick her up and fuck her against the wall until she screamed his name. While Sam was more gentle, he still had her begging for more.
Bella was cooking in her new kitchen, with her windows open allowing the breeze to blow through. She loved the smell of an incoming storm and they were preparing for a doozy. The clouds were ominous as they moved overhead, lightning flashing and loud bursts of thunder.
“Bella?” Sam called out from the door.
“I’m in the kitchen.”
Sam walked around the corner and saw her putting the finishing touches on their dinner. “Where’s Paul?”
“He’s making sure all the windows and shutters are closed upstairs.” She turned to kiss her husband, smiling as they separated. “Dad and Sue will be here soon, as will Leah, Andrew and Seth.”
“Hey, Kitten, Jake just called. He and Ang are crashing dinner and bringing Billy.” Paul hollered from the landing above the open living, dining and kitchen area.
“Okay, there’s plenty of food.” Bella smiled and turned back to it.
“Does that mean it’s okay for Kim and I to crash?” Jared smiled sheepishly from the doorway.
“I brought extra,” Kim grinned at her friend.
“You guys know the more the merrier,” Bella laughed.
“Good, because I saw Embry, Quil and Old Quil headed this way,” Charlie said as he and Sue walked in.
Their dinner was a loud, but fun time. There were stories told as outside a storm raged. Bella, Kim, Leah and Sue were in the kitchen cleaning up when a loud clap of thunder shook the house, followed by a bright flash of lightning. It was when a gust of wind blew through the house that everyone turned to the double doors which led to the back deck. Another bright flash of lightning illuminated a figure standing in the doorway.
Bella gasped and whispered, “Emily.”
