Mark of the White Wolf

Chapter 04:
We watched a movie together between lunch and dinner, but by the time dinner was done, I wasn't feeling too well. My hands were shaking slightly, my stomach roiling in protest. Charlie wanted to take my temperature again, but I snapped at him, completely flying off the handle for no reason. He raised his hands in surrender, then dropped the thermometer on the counter before he went outside to the main level porch.
I instantly felt like shit, so I went out to talk to him. He was sitting silently on one of the Adirondack chairs when I whispered sadly, “I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that.”
He chuckled, then said, “You're about to do a lot more snapping, Bella, so don't worry about it. I think it's time, but there's more to tell you. You should go strip down if you want to wear those again after tonight.”
I gasped slightly, but Charlie held out an old camping blanket for me. I went in, stripped down, then wrapped the blanket tightly around me before going back out to sit next to him.
Once I was settled, he said, “I know I should have stopped you from seeing Cullen when you moved home, but I couldn't. I knew if I tried, you would have either been miserable, or you would have gone behind my back to see him, hating me for it. The thing is, the wolves only promised to see you through your first change, once they found out, as you were known to be seeing Cullen. They don't trust you, Bells... and that's my fault. If I'd have stopped you from getting involved with him, they would have taken you in. They would've helped you with understanding all of this. Now, though, they don't trust that you won't become the Cullen pet.”
I was instantly growling deep in my chest, my body shaking well beyond my control. My breathing was fast and hard as I pushed myself out of the chair; I paced in front of Charlie like a caged wild animal.
How dare they?! They had no right! How was I supposed to know that the Cullens triggered the change, or that I was going to be a wolf to begin with? Pet, my ass. I'll show them a fucking pet. That high and mighty alpha's going to end up my bitch before I'm through with him.
Suddenly I felt like I couldn't breathe, so I dashed down the outside stairs to the basement level patio, then towards the trees. I needed out... needed away... the forest was calling me. Just before I hit the treeline, excruciating pain raced through every cell and bone in my body. It felt like it was pulsing outward with the intense anger I was feeling until I collapsed to the ground with an agonized cry.
Out of nowhere, I heard another voice in my head saying, “Shit! So Charlie was telling the truth… the change has happened.”
I hurriedly looked around to see if I could see someone, but the voice said, “I'm speaking through the mind link, Bella. Stop panicking. My name is Sam, and I'm the alpha. If you can stay calm and in one place, then I can be there soon. Just tell me where you are.”
It felt like he was trying to keep his memories from me, but his disgust for my change leaked through. I let loose a menacing growl, sensing Sam's surprised shiver as I spat, “Fuck you and your pack, Uley. I don't need your so-called help… neither does Charlie. Like I would ever tell the likes of you where we are. You denounced me, remember? I'm worth nothing more than a fucking vampire lap dog, according to you.”
Then, with all my strength, I growled menacingly, “Get. The. Fuck. Out. Of. My. Head!”
Suddenly, there was a loud yelp from Sam before my head went completely silent. I couldn't feel Sam's mind anymore, and let out a huffed breath. I felt the urge to run… to mark... after a second of gaining my bearings.
Remembering Charlie's words, I let the urge take over. I ran through the trees, but when I came to a road, I backed up into the forest a few steps to inhale deeply.
Clean... no scents. My territory.
I walked along the road, hidden within the tree line, then let my instincts take over. I smelled my natural scent strengthening, so I rubbed my sides up against the trees nearest me. Then the map Charlie showed me came to mind, marking out what land he had accumulated for the territory. I made my way around the entirety of the land's perimeter, making sure to thoroughly scent all the trees and boulders I came across.
I instinctively knew that the whole process took me over three hours, and by the time I was done, I was extremely hungry. I growled low in my throat as I came across a delicious scent on the way back to the den, diverting my course toward where the scent was coming from. When I reached a small clearing, I saw several deer grazing near a deer feeder.
Charlie must be feeding them... he's keeping them close for me.
Without another thought, I could feel the power and strength coiling in my muscles. When I got close enough to my prey, I pounced. It was an incredible feeling when the flesh of buck's neck gave under the force of my powerful jaws. I heard its neck break as we landed on the soft grass beneath us, then I hungrily started to devour my hunt.
When I finally felt sated, I cleaned my paws, tried to clean up my muzzle, then decided to see if I could find a lake or pond to finish the job. I found one quickly enough, but heard my own internal gasp as I saw my reflection on the water's surface.
I was... beautiful.
I'd never felt so beautiful in my entire life. My thick fur was the lightest vanilla, with deeper vanilla around my ear tips, covering my paws, and down the back of my spine. My eyes were a sultry silver color with hints of amber, then I had a black nose and paw pads. Of course, I had blood around my muzzle from my recent meal, but the stark contrast of it didn't take away from the beauty of my reflection. I internally giggled as I raked my paw over my reflection, then jumped into the lake to wash up.
It was around another hour before I scented something that instantly had my full attention. I had just waded out of the lake, was shaking the water free of my coat, when the direction of the breeze shifted. The scent hit me, completely making my wolf go haywire. I shivered as arousal flooded my system, then started making my way toward the scent like I was a moth being drawn to a flame.
It was so overwhelming... and somehow familiar. It smelled spicy and sweet, while wrapped up in the most enticing scent of sex and home. My whole body tingled in anticipation as I instinctively followed the scent that made my wolf crazy. She had a constant mantra going mentally, one I couldn’t ignore.
Mate… bite… rut...
When I stopped at a clearing, the scent became overwhelming, causing my mind to practically shut down. The scent led me to a man who was sitting down, with his elbows on his knees and his hands in his hair. Though he looked worried, I could clearly see the anticipation in him. My wolf growled at the sight of this man, practically clawing at me to pounce... to fuck and claim him. The growl was one that clearly stated, “Mine!”
The man's head shot up as he saw me at the treeline, then he walked down into the center of the clearing while whispering something, clearly in awe of me. Not wanting to scare him, I slowly advanced. His scent started to surround me, and though I was trying to stay calm, my wolf was demanding this man submit to me. A sort of combination purr/growl emitted from my throat when he reached out to touch my fur, then in what seemed like a split second, I had him under me as I nuzzled into his neck and chest.
I heard him chuckle, then after a few minutes, I heard his whispered, “Oh, God, Bella... you're so beautiful. Can you let me know you're alright? Please?”
My nuzzling suddenly stopped when I registered who the familiar voice belonged to, the purpose of my actions causing me to scramble off him as I felt the heat in my body rapidly dissipating. I cried out, and it went from a wolf's howl to my human voice crying out as I curled into a ball, “Oh, God. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean... didn't realize it was you. Has to be a mistake. I swear I didn't know... my head was so fuzzy, and I-”
Charlie cut me off, wrapping the blanket around me, then picked me up bridal-style to carry me in the house, cooing to me the whole time. He placed me on the couch in his lap sideways, then pushed my hair away from my face. His eyes held concern as he asked pleadingly, “Tell me what's wrong. What happened after you shifted, Bells?”
I shook my head, stuttering through my fear of his reaction. He lifted my chin, then said seriously, “Whatever happened, I won’t be upset. I love you, Sweetheart. That will never change. Now talk to me, please.”
I nodded, sniffling before I said, “It was like a fiery pain rushed through me, then it… exploded… and everything was different. I tried to gain my bearings, but then I heard a voice in my head. I looked around, but the voice spoke again. It was Sam; I was so pissed. He was freaked out that I actually shifted, and said that if I stayed in one place -stayed calm- he would be here soon. He wanted to know where we were.”
Charlie huffed a bit, then I angrily went over my conversation with Sam and how he disappeared from my head after I yelled at him. I shook my head slightly to calm, then explained, “My instincts took over then, my need to stake out our territory became priority. It took me about three hours, I think, but our territory was thoroughly marked and scented by the time I was done. I hunted after that since I was so hungry. God, I’ve never felt that hungry before. Thanks for the deer feeders, by the way. I think I might have messed up that clearing a bit, though.”
Charlie just chuckled, then kissed my temple, rubbing my back as I continued. “I didn't want to come back covered in blood, only to end up scaring you, so I tried to find a stream or something. I found a lake… played in it for about an hour after I saw my reflection. When I got out, though, the wind shifted, and I caught a scent.”
He looked at me worriedly, so I sighed, “I'm sorry. I didn't recognize the scent as yours. My wolf just caught it and went nuts. Your scent made my brain fuzzy when I saw you in the back clearing. I only saw a man, not my father. I didn't connect the two together, and your scent... she wanted it... needed it... oh, God, it made her mating instinct kick in.”
Charlie's breathing hitched as I hid my face from him. After a long few moments of silence, he lifted my chin to make me look at him. I squeezed my eyes shut, not wanting to see the disgust in his eyes, but his words had my eyes popping open in disbelief. “There's nothing to be ashamed of, Bella. Please look at me. Your wolf's mating instinct wouldn’t have kicked in if I wasn't meant for you. Wolves mate for life, Sweetheart. Once they scent their mate, there is never another for them. I know you may think it’s weird, but I'm technically not your dad. We don't share DNA, and as I've said... I've had a lot of time to train myself to think of you as a woman, not my daughter.”
My eyes sought his. He cupped my cheek as I searched for the truth in his eyes. After a long moment, I could see no deception in him, so asked hesitantly, “So you... you aren't angry? And there's nothing wrong with my wolf? She's not messed up because of the vampire venom or something?”
Charlie chuckled, then wrapped his arms around me as he said fervently, “There’s not one damn thing wrong with your wolf, or you, Isabella. I could never be angry or upset about your wolf choosing me. I told you it never felt right to start dating after Renee, that my heart ached without you near. I think this might be the reason why. I think your wolf might have laid claim to me, even as an infant, before your mother took you away.”
I thought about that for a minute, then asked, “Have any of the other wolves found their mate in someone with as much of an age difference?”
Charlie nodded, “Old Quil's grandson, Quil, found his soulmate in the two-year-old niece of Sam's wife, Emily. Quil had just celebrated his 17th birthday.”
I didn't know what to make of all this. My mind kept telling me it was wrong, but my inner wolf kept trying to claw to the surface to claim Charlie as hers. She wanted his seed inside her womb, her teeth in his neck, and her mark on him, claiming him as hers forever.
I laid my head in Charlie's neck, trying to think. His scent bombarded my senses, though, causing me to groan as arousal flooded my system again. I slowly slid off his lap -making sure I didn't flash him- but saw the confusion in his eyes. I blushed slightly, mumbling, “Um... your scent. It's too much when I'm trying to think; it makes my head all fuzzy. It has my wolf wanting seriously dangerous things right now. Speaking of which, what's with my wolf wanting to sink her teeth into you?”
Charlie chuckled, then ran his hand through his hair as he smiled slightly. “She does?”
I nodded, so he explained, “Um... it's part of mating. If you were to bite me... during sex... it would seal our mating bond, allowing us to be able to sense one another.”
His eyes averted to his hands as he blushed slightly, causing me to chuckle, “Since when have you been bashful, Charlie Swan?”
His blush deepened, but he shook his head while changing the subject. “So how big of a mess did you make with your first hunt?”
I laughed, but said, “Actually, not much. I was able to clean my paws and part of my muzzle in the clearing, but I didn't want to freak you out with the rest of the blood on my muzzle. I could feel it there, so that's why I wanted to find somewhere to clean up. There really wasn't any other blood on me, but there is in the clearing, where I took down the buck to feed.”
He nodded, clearly proud of me. “We can get it cleaned up in no time. You probably won't find any other kills there for a few weeks -until the scent is completely washed away- unless it's a predator. You'll need to show me which clearing it is on the map, so that we can get it all squared away after burying your kill.”
I smiled as Charlie and I continued to talk about my hunt, but I felt like I needed to talk to him about this mating thing. I could see his point, since he was truly not my father... but I needed to be able to see him as a man first, before I could let myself get lost in the mating process.
“Charlie? I... I need time. I haven't had the luxury of it like you have, to be able to see you as a man, instead of my father. As bad as it sounds, my wolf is clawing at me, telling me to mount you... to bite and claim you right now. My head, on the other hand, is cringing at the thought of sex with my father. I need a bit of time to be able to wrap my head around you not being biologically related to me, to be able to see you for the man you are. Can you give that to me?”
Charlie gently took my free hand in his. His eyes shown with a combination of love, understanding, and hope as he said seriously, “You have as much time as you need, Bella. I can understand and appreciate you needing it. You only found out yesterday, for crying out loud. Listen, please. Yes, I've had time to see you as a woman -a very beautiful woman- but I've never thought of you intimately. I never let myself go that far... to think of you in a sexual light. I made myself stay detached, so I wouldn't cross that line, especially since there was always the chance that you wouldn’t ever need to phase. Never feel ashamed for needing time, because with this new revelation, I think I might need a little more time to acclimate, myself.”
I chuckled, relieved to know I wasn't the only one, then hugged him as I held tight to the blanket. I whispered softly in his ear as he rubbed my back, “Thank you... for everything. I think I'm going to go wash the lake off of me. Though it might be fun and refreshing in wolf form, it doesn't feel quite as refreshing now that I've shifted back.”
That night in bed, I couldn't get my wolf's thoughts out of my head. She kept showing me image after image of how Charlie looked when I entered the clearing, how he looked under me as I nuzzled against him, as well as the tone of his muscles under me as I practically felt him up with my muzzle. She made me remember his scent getting stronger, and I realized with a slight gasp that it was because he was becoming aroused.
That thought had her practically clawing to get to him as she screamed in my head, “He wants us! He's our mate… we need to mount him now! Claim him, mount him... fuck him and bite him! He was just as aroused by us as we were by him! Go, now!”
I fought to push down my wolf, but ended up needing to masturbate -twice- to get her to calm down even a little. She still wasn't settled enough, though, so my third and fourth orgasms were achieved in the shower... with thoughts of Charlie making the ecstasy rip through my body at incredibly intense heights. I knew there was no way I could stifle those climaxes, so I just prayed the cabin walls were thick enough that Charlie couldn’t hear me.
Needless to say, it took several minutes for me to be able to regroup after them, but only seconds to fall asleep after I collapsed naked into bed.
We watched a movie together between lunch and dinner, but by the time dinner was done, I wasn't feeling too well. My hands were shaking slightly, my stomach roiling in protest. Charlie wanted to take my temperature again, but I snapped at him, completely flying off the handle for no reason.
