Chapter 14:

Bella's POV

I smelled something wonderful then. Seconds later, Sue brought in several bowls of soup with a basket of bread on a rolling cart. I hummed, "Mmm... thanks, Sue. It smells amazing."

She chuckled, "You're welcome, Dear. How's the planning going?"

I smiled widely as I explained, "Really good. We lucked out with finding a treasure trove on the third floor. Samples galore… paint and stain, wood, tile, and stone. Plus, the original interior doors are up there with the hardware. I didn't even get into the other nick-nacks or goodies yet. I'll have to look through those with the girls to see what we come up with. Then there were original sketches with the plans for the house, so we have pretty much a walkthrough of how the original house looked. It was so beautiful, Sue."

She beamed at me, "Wonderful, Bella. Such a lucky find. I'm sure this will make things at least a bit easier on you, right?"

I nodded while Charlie and Quil got the plan papers rolled back up. "It'll save us a lot of time and money in some aspects, plus it all leads back to the house returning as close to original as possible."

She placed the bowls down on the table for us, giving Sam and I the largest ones, then sat next to Charlie with her own. We ate and talked more about the house, but when we were done, Charlie said, "Well, I don't know about you, Bells, but I want to find out about the floors. Quil, care to find out with me?"

I laughed, "Eager, are we, Dad?"

He chuckled, then he and Quil both got up to go to a corner of the room. Sam laughed, "You'll need tools, Charlie. Paul, I know you're out front. Grab my tools from the truck, please."

A few minutes later, Paul and Leah came in laughing as Leah said, "Chief, you just couldn't wait, could you?"

Charlie shook his head, "I told you all I'd be right in here with you doing some of the work... well, this is as good a time as any to find out what we're up against."

Paul handed the toolbox to Charlie, then squatted down next to him, grinning, "Then let's have a look-see."

They got a flat tool from the toolbox, wedged it between the wall and the baseboard, then pried the baseboard loose carefully. Once it was off, Paul beamed at me while turning the baseboard section around for me, "Wood for this room... at least for the baseboards."

I gave him a thumbs-up as I pulled out my pad, noting the find,  then I heard Charlie exclaim, "Woohoo! We have wood floors in the dining room!"

I giggled at Charlie's outburst, but truthfully, I was just as excited as he was. I whispered, "Would it be too much to take it up so I can see what the design is?"

Sam kissed my neck lightly, then brushed his fingers tenderly against my lower stomach as he said, "Not at all, Sweetheart... but I'd rather you weren't in here when we do it. The stuff trapped in the carpet could be harmful if you breathe it too much. Even we wear masks when we take carpets up."

I nodded, then Sam called for Jared. I picked up the bowls from lunch, placed everything on the rolling cart, then said, "Sue? Why don't we get the kitchen straightened back up while the boys see what we have."

She agreed with a smile, so I called to Sam, "Let me know when it's up and the floor is vacuumed, please."

Sue and I found Kim and Leah in the kitchen, already cleaning up after lunch. I laughed, "They beat us to it, Sue."

Leah grinned in return, then noted, "Yes. Sue cooked lunch, and you're both making dinner, so neither of you need to deal with this. You need to rest a while. Remember Emily’s orders? Kim and Jared set your bed up in the master already, though you'll need to get a king soon. That bed looks like a midget in that room, Honey."

I nodded, "I figured. Plus, I know Sam's just been dealing with my bed to be close to me. His tall frame needs a longer bed than mine. Hey, does he have a king at his house?"

Leah nodded, then I smirked at my sudden idea, "Wanna do me a favor?"

She chuckled, "Oh, I'm liking this look you've got. Tell me. Whatever it is, I'll make it happen."

I brought the girls in close before saying softly, "As soon as they're done pulling up the carpeting in the dining room, I'll bring Sam and Dad in here to tell them some of the ideas I have for the kitchen. Leah, you and Kim take your men over to Sam's, to get his bed and some more of his clothes. If you can bring a dresser, do it. Bring everything back here as soon as possible, then set it up in the master bedroom. I don't think he believes I want him to stay after the week is out, and we found out something while on the tour that Quil will be explaining during dinner. Sue, Billy will be coming for dinner, too, so he can hear what happened. It's a really good thing, guys, so don't worry."

They nodded, so I filled the girls in on everything that we found out so far. I was getting ready to tell them about the nick-nack treasure trove upstairs when I heard Sam say, "Isabella? We're ready, my Angel."

I smiled. The girls nodded to me as they dashed out of the room, going the long way around. Sue and I took the shortest route.

When we entered the dining room, my breath caught. Sue held my hand as she breathed, "Wow. It'll be so pretty when it's refinished, Bella."

I nodded, "Truly beautiful."

The floor had a dark wood border around the room, then an inlaid square design in the center of the room made of different tones, while the main portion was a medium hardwood with variances. The stain was faded and blah, but I could tell from the samples what it would look like. "My God, were we lucky with this room. Oh, I have to tell you some of the ideas I got for the kitchen while I was in there. Come on."

Charlie smiled at my excitement while Sam swooped me up in his arms. Just as we left the room, I saw my four cohorts slipping out the front door with smiles.

I rattled on excitedly for nearly 30 minutes about how the cabinets and trim should be darker than the floor and countertops, as well as how I wanted the work island to have a small area for shelves on one end so that all of my recipe books could be housed there. I also mentioned how I wanted the one long side of the island to have bar stools, so people could talk easily with me while I cooked, but they wouldn't be in the way. Sue even jumped in to make suggestions, which I was thankful for, because I was running low on stalling tactics.

Just when I was about to give up, I saw my cohorts coming in the room, with Paul saying, "What's taking you guys so long? I thought you wanted to rip up some more carpet, Charlie."

I giggled, "Sorry guys, I was telling them all the stuff I wanted to do in the kitchen. I guess I got carried away."

Leah nodded just Charlie said, "Yeah, let's go. Sorry kiddo, but I want to see the other floors."

As everyone else left the room, I whispered to Sam seductively, "You and I have somewhere to be, my sexy Mate."

I backed toward the side door while I pulled him with me, then turned toward the stairs. He growled playfully, then swooped me into his arms to carry me up the stairs. I whispered, "Our room," so he quickly made his way to the double doors.

When he opened them, his breath hitched, then he looked at me in awe. "How... when... did you...?"

I nodded as I bit my lip, saying in explanation, "What do you think all that prattling on in the kitchen was? It was my stall tactic to give the girls time to tell the boys what needed to be done, along with enough time for them to go get the stuff, bring it back here, and set it up. Thankfully Sue was in on it with me, or I would have run out of steam a lot sooner. Is it alright? Did I do okay?"

He beamed at me while whispering, "It's perfect. So you still want to go through with it?"

I nodded emphatically, "More than ever. I told you. I don't want you sleeping away from me again. I just knew that my small bed wasn't going to cut it for much longer. This was my way of telling you that I want you to stay."

He carried me over to the made bed, stood me at the side, then said, "Let me lock the doors so no one barges in."

I nodded as I pulled my t-shirt over my head, "Hurry back to me."

As he walked over to the door, I took my capris, socks, and shoes off, then stood in my bra and cheeky panties. I heard his growl at the sight of me when he walked back over, so I crooked my finger at him. I grabbed the button on his shorts, releasing it, then knelt as I unzipped and pulled them down. He whimpered as he watched me.

I stroked his length twice before swirling my tongue around the head. He gasped as he cradled the back of my head, "Christ, Isabella... please."

I hummed and took him more fully, working my hand on what wouldn't fit in my mouth. After several minutes, I swallowed around him, causing him to groan, "Fuuck. So sexy. You have to stop, my little seductress. I need to be inside you."

I sucked hard before releasing him with a pop, then he tossed me gently onto the bed after helping me stand. With the flick of his wrists and a couple of tearing sounds, he had my bra and panties ripped from me. The action had my nipples pebbled in a heartbeat. He spread me for him as he crawled onto the bed, then ran a finger up my already moist slit. I whimpered as he said, "Mmm, Isabella. I love how aroused I make you. That'll never stop being one of the sexiest sights ever."

I moaned at the desire and need in his voice, just as he lined himself up with my entrance. In one slow smooth stroke, he was fully seated inside me, causing us both to let out heavy breaths at the feeling. He kissed me passionately, yet as the kiss heated between us, so did his thrusts.

Our bodies slid together like we'd been doing this dance for ages. When my hips thrust up to meet his, he flipped us, pushing me down deeply onto his thick length. I braced my hands, began to ride him in a sensual rhythm of rocking and thrusting, while his hands roamed my body in need.

Our pace picked up as he tugged at my nipples, then when he pressed hard on my clit, we both fell over the edge into bliss. He held my hips down as he thrust up into me fully, and I felt his warm seed filling me. I sighed at the feeling of completeness, hearing him do the same.

I plopped down on his chest, then listened as our breathing calmed. He stroked my spine as we laid there. Finally, Sam broke the silence, "As soon as we go back downstairs, I'll pull Paul aside to ask him if he still wants my place."

I smiled as I kissed the spot over his heart, "Good. Are they getting restless down there?"

Sam chuckled softly, "Charlie and Quil are. They found more hardwood. Both are excited to show you."

I smiled, "That will make our jobs so much easier, Sam."

He nodded as he kissed my mark, "I know. I don't want to jinx the good luck, though, so I won't say what I'm thinking."

I giggled, "Good, no jinxing. We need all the luck we can get right now."

I didn't want to move, but I knew Charlie wouldn't be patient much longer, so I whispered, "Time to get back down there, I guess."

He nodded, then asked as he kissed a random pattern on my shoulder, "Do you have any massage oil?"

I chuckled, "Really random, but yes. It's the same scent as my lotion and other stuff. Why?"

He ghosted his lips up my shoulder to kiss the soft spot behind my ear, "Because I want to give you a nice relaxing massage tonight. I want to make sure you don't get too tense, and that you stay as relaxed as possible. You've had a very busy few days. We could use some downtime together."

I hummed, "Mmm, that sounds nice. Can we take a bath together before the massage?"

He held me tighter, "Sounds perfect, Sweetheart."

I lifted up enough to kiss him lovingly, then carefully dismounted him. I hated the feeling and ended up whimpering slightly. Sam cupped my cheek, "Shh, I know. I don't like it either, Angel, but we have a house full of people down there."

I nodded, then walked into the bathroom, hoping to find something to clean up with a bit. There was a box on the floor in the open space between the sinks, which said, "Sam's bathroom: linens and necessities."

I opened it,  happy to find a whole bunch of towels and washcloths, along with his shampoo, conditioner, soap, and shaving items. I grabbed the soap, a washcloth, and a towel as Sam came in, then he asked, "Want some help?"

I nodded, "I just want to clean up a bit; I feel sticky."

He nodded, taking the washcloth and soap from me as he turned the water on, "Yeah, they have the windows open downstairs. We didn't get around to opening them in here beforehand. I think you'll like the sound of the ocean from here at night."

He gently ran the cool cloth over my body, being careful at my core. I sighed in content at being rid of the sticky feeling. Sam smiled as he turned me to run the cloth down my spine and back, which caused me to hum. When he was through, he kissed the nape of my neck, then whispered, "All better, Angel?"

I nodded, "Yes, thank you. I feel so much better."

He rinsed the cloth again, then ran it quickly over himself as I patted dry. I handed him the towel with a smile and a kiss as I finished, saying, "I'm going to get redressed. I'll meet you in the bedroom?"  He nodded, so I went back into the bedroom to get dressed.

He still had not come in when I had finished, so I walked back towards the bathroom. I heard him in one of the closets, so I poked my head in. He was slipping a pair of beachcombers on his feet, having dressed in a t-shirt and basketball shorts. I smiled, "Even fully clothed you’re sexy as hell, you know that?"

He chuckled, giving me a wry smile, "Oh, really? Well, just what makes me sexy in clothes?"

I sauntered up to him slowly, then placed my hands on his abs and traced the definition lines through his shirt, "This. I like this."

He moaned as my fingers the traced lines through his shirt, "God, that feels good. You need to stop, or we'll end up staying up here so I can make love to you again. I'd stay buried inside of you for the rest of the day if we could get away with it."

My hands went to his hips as I kissed over his heart in response, "I would too, Sam. I definitely would. Come on, before Charlie gets tired of waiting, and decides to come to find us." He chuckled, then swooped me up in his arms.

When we made it to the bottom of the stairs, Sam and I both gasped. While we had our intimate time, they had taken up the carpeting in both the entry and the den, as well as who knows what else. I breathed out, "Wow, guys. You’ve been busy, I see. This is amazing."

The entry had the same outer border as the dining room, but the inside medallion was a compass rose with the words ‘reflect, dream, believe, create, inspire, imagine, learn, wonder’ around the outside of the compass going clockwise. It was perfect. Charlie beamed at me, "You haven’t seen anything yet, Bells. We also got the guest suite and the theater done, plus they’re working on the great room now. The whole first floor has hardwood under the carpet. We’ve been lucky today."

I smiled at Charlie, but he said, "Come see. The floors are faded like the dining room, but I don’t see any boards that need to be replaced, so hopefully, we can just sand them down, re-stain them, then seal them."

Charlie opened the doors to the den. Though dusty, the floor was really pretty. It had the same darker border as the others, but the inside medallion was a circle of floating leaves in a pattern. I smiled up at Sam, "These are all so perfect, Sam. Did you see the words on the one in the entry? Anyone who comes in the house will know what we believe in… how we want to live our lives. It’s just perfect."

He kissed me softly, "I know, Angel. It was beautiful, wasn’t it? It think this house will become a beautiful home, along with a wonderful place for anyone who takes haven here."

I nodded, then Charlie led us into the guest suite, followed by the theater. I liked that the main borders were all the same throughout the first floor, keeping a fluidity to the house without detracting from any of the center medallions, which were all different. The one in the theater room wasn’t in the center of the room, but front and center down in the open space in front of the screen. Each level of the floor had its own border, though, which I liked. It made it interesting.

When we made it to the great room, I smiled widely. Everyone was putting the furniture back into the room, arranging it so that the medallion was left uncovered for viewing. I called out, “You guys did an amazing job in such short a time.”

They smiled at me, then Jared asked, "Hey Bella? Since you and Sam both have offices down here, what’s the office upstairs over the entry going to be?"

I beamed, "I’m surprised you’re the first one to ask about that, Jared, but it’s a good question. I’m actually going to set up a couple of computers in there, use it as a study area for any pack members or imprints in school. I don’t want anyone’s grades falling because of pack duties.  Having a designated area for studying will leave no room for failing. With me and Dad on hand, anyone who needs help can certainly ask for it. Being a tribe protector is extremely important, but that doesn’t mean that your grades should suffer because of it."

Everyone beamed at me as Sam kissed my neck, whispering, “Thank you, Isabella. That means so much.”

I nodded in acknowledgment while Jared and Kim both said, “Thanks, Bella.”

Kim smiled, adding after a second, “It’ll be much easier with a quiet place just for homework.”

I beamed at them before saying seriously, “I know how hard it is to be away from Sam. I know you can’t always be with your mates in your homes, so I want you to understand that you will always have a place here. I would hate to have to struggle to be with Sam… and I know I’m very lucky to have a father that knows and understands. This will always be a place that you don’t have to hide or struggle. Granted, it will be hectic here until the restoration is done, but the doors will always be open to you."

Jared and Paul both nodded and hugged their imprints, while Quil and Charlie beamed at me. I hated the spotlight, so I hurried to change the subject. "You guys have done a lot today. Take a break for a bit. Relax with your mates."

They smiled, then Charlie hugged Sue to him, just as she asked, "Bella, I’ve made a list for groceries. Charlie and I were going to go. Do you want to look over it before we head out, to see if you need anything else?"

I nodded, "Please. I need razor blades and a few other things. Sam do you need anything?"

He shook his head, "No, Sweetheart. Anything I need, I can pick up from the house. Speaking of which…"

He smirked and kissed my neck, walked over to Paul, clapped him on the back, then said, “You and I need to talk, Brother.”

I smiled as they both walked off, with Charlie giving me a knowing look. I nodded, causing him and Sue to smile widely. I asked then, "Did you happen to lift any of the linoleum from the floor in there? A corner?"

Jared shook his head, "We wanted to wait on that; we knew the doc was coming back for dinner tonight. If there’s hardwood under it, there will be a sticky residue from the linoleum."

I nodded, "Good thinking. We’ll have to figure something out for meals when we do start on the kitchen and nook, seeing as we definitely won’t be able to cook with the cabinets and linoleum ripped out. Sue, let me take a look at that list, so you and Dad can get going."

I looked over the very long list, added a few things, then handed it back to her with a smile. They both kissed my forehead, then left out the front door.
