Chapter 36: Telling Charlie

Sitting out in the yard with everyone while Sue got ready, I pointed out the bush to be torched. I explained to Peter, Jasper, and Char, "She has tried everything to get rid of that bush. Hacking it to pieces, pouring bleach on the roots, having pack members pull it up. Nothing works. It always grows back. Hopefully I can keep my promise and fire will do the trick for good."

Jasper hugged me to him from behind, kissing my shoulder, "Have faith, Darlin'." I smiled.

Soon Sue was calling the elders inside to get the fake talk underway, as Charlie would be here within five minutes. My vampires and I waited for the signal. I didn't wait patiently, but I waited, none-the-less.

We heard Charlie's cruiser pulling up in the driveway, so Jasper had to calm me twice while we waited. I thanked him and apologised both times. I looked at each of my mates, whispering my love for them, "I'll make him understand somehow. I swear it. I won't... I can't live without any of you. I love you so much. I'll find a way to make him see."

They all surrounded me in a hug, then soon I heard Jasper whisper, "It's time, Darlin'. I'll help you stay calm the whole time."

I nodded, then kissed each one of them quickly. I walked up to the back door, entering without knocking. I saw the elders and Charlie sitting at the table, then felt a boost of confidence come from Jasper. I squared my shoulders, walking into the room, "Hi, Dad."

Charlie looked at me in shock, not saying a word. "It's really me, Dad. I swear. I know I look and sound different, but that's the goddess at work. The goddess coming forth in me changed a few things, but I'm still me deep down. Say something, please."

He stood up, putting his hands on the table. "You are no goddess. You, Isabella Marie, are a college student. Why in Christ's name are you not in Texas at school right now!"

Not the initial reaction I was hoping for. "I am the goddess, and I can prove it to you. I will explain the whole thing if you would just... sit... down. You're not doing anyone any good by raising your temper. Sit. Down. Please."

He plopped back in his chair, so I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to calm myself. I felt Jasper's steady stream of calm and confidence, but the breath still helped.

"Just before you went to Seattle, my changes started. I found one of the pieces to my puzzle, so to speak."

I walked over next to him, then turned around so he could see my back. "As you know, I was born with the top element. When I found the first of my three missing pieces, the second element appeared on my skin."

I turned back around, explaining, "That's when the other physical changes started, too. My hair grew rapidly. It's down to my tailbone if I were to take out my braids. My skin was healthier and smoother. My hips widened, and I got bigger on my top half. My muscles all toned and firmed, plus I grew a few inches taller. My voice when I sing is hypnotic, to say the least. Then there's my powers. I can use any of the four elements I choose. The goddess didn't fully represent herself on the outside of me until after I found the third and final missing piece. Have you heard the prophecy, Dad? Have you heard what it entails?"

He nodded. "Tell me what stuck out at you."

He thought for a minute. "Battles against evil... the key to winning the battles was being one unit with the wolves... mates..."

He stopped there, looking at me in confusion. "Think about it, Dad. I didn't get my elements until I found my missing pieces. My mates. Plural. My soul is bound to theirs as theirs are bound to me. If something were to happen to me, they would perish. The same goes for me, if something would happen to them. I would literally die, Dad. I need them with me. I love them completely. I can not fulfill my destiny without them. You must understand this."

He looked at me sadly with tears in his eyes, "You'll really die if something happens to them?"

I nodded sadly. I knelt down next to him, "Dad, I didn't want to have to tell you this way, but you need to know. Ask the elders what they think of my mates. Ask them how my mates treat me. You need to know before I tell you more about them."

He looked at the elders, so Sam said, "They treat her better than any father would hope their daughter be treated. They see to her every need, which are many right now. Her powers aren't stable right yet, and she needs her mates to guide her. Without her mates she would be a shell... lost inside herself, unable to come back to us. You know I wouldn't tell you this if it weren't the truth. I have a son or daughter of my own coming into the world soon. I can only hope that any daughter of mine is treated as well as Bella is."

Charlie looked at me, then nodded. "Tell me about them. I know you have more than one. By the look of your back and the names, I'd say you have three life partners. Two male and one female. Tell me about them, and I'll try to understand."

I breathed out slowly, then took a breath in before starting, "Do you remember Jasper Hale Cullen? He was Edward's brother of sorts. I know Sue told you of the Cullen nature. I need you to know, Dad, that the whole time I was near the Cullens, not one of them ever tried to bite me or drink from me. They are peaceful, and hunt only animals. When Edward broke up with me, he left me in the woods. Jasper was who found me. I had felt for Jasper since Phoenix, but didn't want to break up his relationship. I didn't tell him, but I felt it. It tore me up when Edward told me that the family had already left. I thought I'd never get another chance to tell him. It literally broke me. I tried to run after Edward, to get him to take me to the family, but he was too fast. Jasper found me broken and bleeding on the floor of the forest, then brought me back to the house. My stitches from the party had all broken open, causing me to lose too much blood."

I held my arm out to Charlie, tracing the scar. "He used his venom to close the wound. He stayed with me through my nightmares. When morning came, I thought he left me again. I was so shattered, but he immediately felt my panic and heartbreak, rushing into the room. He had gone to get me a cool washcloth, because I was having another nightmare. We ended up confessing our feelings for each other. I won't get into details, but later that morning he went to hunt, so I got cleaned up for the day. When he got back, he scared me. I thought something was wrong because he was speechless. It turns out, he saw the second mark on my back. I told him I hadn't left the house, and we didn't know what to make of it. We thought it was a sign that we were truly meant to be together. It turned out to be right."

I took a breath to keep myself calm, then Charlie nodded for me to continue, "That's when the power fluctuations and physical changes started. Before Jasper was with the Cullens, he sired Peter and Charlotte. They don't have a pretty past, but let's just say they are the best mates for me to be going through these battles with. Jasper noticed my changes happening, knew they would be noticed by you soon. The look you gave me when you came home and said I looked good and you missed me? You were already starting to notice the changes. We were afraid that you could get hurt if the wrong people knew about what was happening to me, so we decided to leave.”

Charlie scowled, but I continued, “My GED is 100% genuine. You can ask the principal. He was the one who administered the test. The letter of early admittance was not real. We did go to Jasper's family home in Texas, but college was a cover to get me out of Washington. I had figured out Victoria was after me... that's the army of new vampires in Seattle. We had to get out to get away from her, but to also find out about my changes. Peter had been researching to find anything he could about prophecies relating to elementals, then Jasper had him add goddesses to that list. He met with a shaman that confirmed I was a true elemental... able to wield all four elements.”

With a small extra wave of confidence from Jasper, I said, “Peter felt that I was in trouble two nights before we left. He ran all the way to me from his meeting with the shaman, which was states away. I ended up with his mark. I'm sorry about the burnt bushes in the yard. I had a power spike that Peter had to bring me out of, and I kind of made the bushes burn on accident. We all left for Texas together. Once we reached the home in Texas, I met Char, or Charlotte as it's written on my back. Her mark appeared on my back, then my inner goddess decided it was time to let me in on what was happening. She showed me visions of things happening... of things I needed to know. She told me of how my goddess transformation would be complete once all the names were on my mark, how I had to meet with the wolves and Jacob soon after, or it would be too late."

He stayed quiet, so I said, "We left Texas later that night to head this way. The night we arrived, the final name appeared on my back. We rested up, then the next morning we met with Jacob and a few of the pack. To say the least, he wasn't thrilled my mates were vampires once he saw my markings, but we have worked out a peace with the Cullens and their close friends from Alaska. The Denali clan are also animal hunters, or gold-eyes. Dad, there's something you need to know, but I need to know how you are dealing so far. Talk to me."

Charlie cleared his throat, but had tears in his eyes. "You left to protect me? Is that why you were so afraid for me to go checking on clues without a ton of backup?"

I nodded, so he continued, "Oh, Bells. I know why you couldn't tell me, but I wish you could have. I've missed you so much. The thing with the elements appearing on your back. That has to do with intimate things, right?"

I blushed and nodded, bowing my head. "No need to go any further, but listen. I will never judge you for that. You have your soulmates. That's what they are, right?"

I smiled widely, opening my hands like a book. My mates' soul pieces came into view. Charlie gasped, but I said, "This is why I can not be parted from them. What you are seeing is what I hold inside me. Each one of these is a literal piece of each mate's soul. With it is a bond that connects me to that mate. If one of my soul mates die, the piece inside me would die also. It wouldn't disappear, but it is a screaming rip-your-heart-out pain, Dad... yet that's just if the piece is damaged. I couldn't imagine how much worse it would be if it died. They each hold a piece of my soul too, along with holding a piece of each others. All four of us hold three soul pieces beyond our own. We are all connected and bound as tightly as possible. Now,"

I closed my hands and continued, "The thing I had to tell you. Peter and Char are not animal drinkers. Listen. Before. You. Speak. They chose to still live on human blood, but they do it by trying to help humanity, too. They only drink from murderers, rapists, child molesters, or dealers of sex slavery. They never feed on the innocent. Dad, I can't judge them for that. You and I both know the judicial system is shit. You're a cop! You know how many get released on technicalities, or how a judge gets bought out and a serial killer gets off. Think about how many get slaps on the wrist each year, that should be going away for hard time. How many times have those things happened over the course of you being a cop? If they can save the life of one innocent and rid the world of a murderer in the process, or save a teenage virgin from being raped, or stop some pervert from molesting a four-year-old... can you judge them for how they choose to feed? What if any one of those victims was me?"

He bowed his head and shook it, "I can't judge them either. As long as they don't hurt innocents, I can't help but kind of be glad that they chose that way. If they had to live off humans, I would rather it be the scum of the earth. Help rid us of some of it to make the world a better place."

I smiled... this is what I needed to hear. "Dad I'd like you to meet them, but you need to understand. You've never met a red-eyed vampire. It can be quite alarming the first time you see one. Please do not be frightened. They fed before we got to the Washington state line, so you are in no danger in their presence. Jasper has chosen for personal reasons to stay on the animal diet, so his eyes are still gold. If you are ready, I will let them in. I can give you a few minutes to talk with the elders, though, if you need it."

Charlie nodded, saying, "I would like to meet them, but I think I need a few minutes with the elders."

I nodded. "Sue, just call out when Dad is ready. We'll be outside."

I walked out the back door, straight into them surrounding me in a hug for the ages. I sighed in content. I took a deep breath in. The swirling scent of my mates met me... I was home. They all placed soft kisses on any part of me they could reach. "How's Charlie handling?"

Jasper said, "It was touch and go for a few minutes, but then you told him about my finding you in the forest, and of you finding your missing pieces. Something struck in him. I think Sue is his missing piece, and he realised that. He's calm now, Darlin'. He's okay. We just have give him a few minutes."

I nodded as I snuggled in deeper. A few minutes passed, then Peter whispered, "They want to come out here."

We broke the hug, but remained close with our hands linked. Our foreheads were together when I whispered, "I love you, my mates."

They all whispered 'I love you, too,' just as we heard Charlie clearing his throat. "Sorry to interrupt."

I smiled at him, "You're not interrupting, Dad. We are very close knit. You will always find us close or holding one another. The contact helps me stay stable. Dad, this is Jasper. You remember him. His real last name is Whitlock. This is Peter and Charlotte Whitlock. Neither remembers their human last name, so Jasper let them share his. You met Peter the night Jasper said he found a place to stay. These are my mates, Dad."

Then to my little family I said, "This is my Dad, Chief of Police Charlie Swan."

Jasper stuck his hand out, so Charlie took it. "Thank you for finding my baby and taking care of her."

Jasper responded, "I would have gone to the ends of the earth to find her, Sir."

Charlie stuck his hand out to Peter next, "Something in Washington you couldn't live without, huh? I'm glad you could care for her when she needed you most. Especially since you hadn't met her yet."

Peter smiled, "Sir, with my gift, I already felt like I knew her all my life. I'll explain more on that later, if ya like, but all three of us would do literally anythin’ for her... do anythin’ to keep her safe and well. I swear it."

Charlie nodded to him as he took Char's hand in his to kiss it. "I gotta say, Miss Charlotte. I'm a bit surprised that one of my daughter's mates is female. That doesn't matter to me, though."

I smirked at Charlie, "Dad! Stop flirting with my Char!"

He stood up straight, scowling at me, "I'm not flirting. Besides, I think I found my missing piece already."

He blushed as he peeked at Sue. She heard Charlie, gasped, then ran over to him. "Really?"

They kissed softly, but quickly as he told her, "Yes, Suzie. I do. It clicked when Bella was talking about her missing pieces. I don't feel like mine is missing anymore, now that I have you."

I smiled. This is a good thing.

He hugged her for a second. When they broke, Charlie looked at me. "I can see the goddess part of this... I mean you changed so much in such a little time period. Don't get me wrong Bells, you're stunningly beautiful. What I mean is, I can see with the little power trick earlier that you're a goddess, but your haven't shown any sign, other than your mark, of being a true Elemental."

I looked at Quil. "If I take energy from one element, can I use it for all four?"

He smiled widely, "Yes, Young one. You most certainly can."

I asked everyone to give me a little space, which they did. I sat in my lotus position on the ground, hands in the grass, then closed my eyes. I took what I thought I needed from the earth's energy. I could feel a difference in my eyes, so I knew they would be at least partially green.

I stood back up, then looked at Charlie. He gasped, whispering, "So beautiful," then I turned to Sue.

"You sure about the bush?" She grinned, nodding her head enthusiastically.

I turned to the bush as I said, "Dad, watch this."

I thought of the vision... of me snapping my fingers and the bush burning. I wanted it to happen, so I put 1/4 of my borrowed energy into it before opening my eyes. I snapped my fingers, then the bush burst into flames.

With my eyes still open, I thought of a small rain cloud forming above the charred bush, the cloud raining on it to put the fire out. I put 1/3 of the rest of my  borrowed energy into it, stretched one of my hands toward where I pictured the cloud, wiggled my fingers in a sign for rain, then the cloud I pictured started forming. It rained gently on the bushfire. When it was done, it disappeared.

I brought the same palm to my face, pictured a breeze blowing the ash away and clearing the space, then blew 1/2 of the energy left into my hand. I whispered, "Blow for me," while extending my hand toward the area. Immediately the wind carried the ashes away, then died down.

"Sue, what do you want in it's place? I think you deserve something pretty after that nasty bush."

I looked to her, where she was smiling widely. "How about one of those Nikko Blue Hydrangeas? I've always wanted one there."

I nodded my head, pictured the last of the energy I borrowed going into the area to create a beautiful, strong, hydrangea plant with tons of blue flower clusters. I pictured kissing one of the leaves when it was done, then blew the energy into my cupped hands. I opened them toward the area, whispering, "Grow beautiful and strong for me," as I pictured the area and plant in my mind. The hydrangea plant grew big and strong before our eyes. When it was done blooming, I walked over and kissed a leaf.

I looked back at Charlie, who was beaming with pride. "I'll never doubt you, Bells. That was truly amazing."

I laughed. "You should see the field of wildflowers I made grow today, or the sapling I made grow tall and strong to around four years old or so. It was awesome. I also need to replace Sam's winter firewood, because I accidently made it turn into a bonfire in my frustration earlier."

Char wrapped her arms around me from behind, kissing my shoulder. "You forgot about the part with the breeze, Sweetness. When she giggles, Charlie? The breeze flutters like butterfly kisses on your skin. We danced and played in the breeze this morning. Every time she giggled, the breeze fluttered."

Jasper added, "She's also made other things happen on accident. She made other bushes burn, fire streak across a lawn, lightning fill the sky, a 50 year old tree grow from nothing, whole rooms and fields have earthquakes, dry earth and wind swirl around her, plus papers from her desk twirl up into a tiny tornado."

Peter added, "She's truly one of a kind, Sir. Very special. We're all so proud of her, and feel completely gifted to be accepted as her mates."

Charlie was beaming even more now. He placed his hand on my cheek, "My daughter will do great things. Great, great things. I love you, Bells. I don't say that enough."

I shook my head. "We, both of us, don't share our feelings with each other very well... but I always knew, Dad. I always knew you loved me. Don't feel bad. We have the time now to change that. When I left, I didn't think I would be able to see you again... but Sue changed that when she told you of the legends. I can still be a part of your life, now. We have time."

He nodded, then kissed my other cheek. I hugged him to me, "I love you, too, Dad. So much."

I let him go, but he walked over to the Hydrangea I just made. "Is the field of wildflowers this pretty?"

I smiled, "Yes, Dad. Would you like to see it sometime?"

Sam whispered something to the elders, then looked at me, "Would you feel alright to have your Dad at a training session?"

I closed my eyes and thought for a second. "Yes, as long as we aren't working on air. I'll still need to explain the episodes at some point, but not now. Too much has gone on today, and I'm still recovering from the last one. Can we go inside now or sit down? I really need the last of the chocolate I have, along with the waters I brought."

Charlie suggested we go back inside, so I looked for the pack. Jake was quiet and there, but he had the other three giving a perimeter for my show. I unwrapped Char's arms, squeezed her hand, then walked over to Jake. "You okay, Jake?"

He nodded, but didn't say anything right away. When he did, he sounded worried, "You scared us earlier, Bells. Are you sure you're okay after that episode? Are you still weak?"

I shook my head, smiling as I nudged his side. "I regained all the lost energy from the earth, Jake. Jasper can let you feel if you need to, but I'm fine. I just need my mates and to finish eating right now. Then after we talk to Charlie for a few more minutes, I want to go back to the cabin to have one of my vampires give me a massage. My muscles are tense. I think I need a yoga session, too. After that, I just want to curl up in bed with them, and be. Just be. I'm really okay, Jake. I promise."

He hugged me to him, "God, seeing it is so much different that hearing about it. Your eyes were blood red, and I could swear I felt your heat from where I stood. It just rolled off you. I'm glad you're okay."

He let me go, then whistled for the pack to come in. He released them for the night to go about their normal duties. I walked to my mates, who surrounded me in another hug. We stayed like that for a few minutes, then broke apart enough to walk inside. The elders bid us a good night, setting it up for Charlie to take the day off tomorrow. He would be able to watch my training session then.

I told them goodbye before heading to the living room. Char had gotten my chocolates and waters for me, then met me in the living room. Peter sat on the floor against the chair, so I sat down between his legs. Jasper leaned into us from one side, while Char leaned in from the other. Char opened a bag of my chocolates, then I ate a few of them.

I looked up to see Charlie smiling down on us. "I can't help but be happy that your mates are so loving."

He sat on the loveseat near us, "That's some fancy chocolate you got there, Bells. Is that from that little place in Port Angeles?"

I smiled with a nod, "Yeah. I'm thinking about taking out stock in that place. We buy out half the store when we show up. She told me when we got this batch that she would be willing to make custom chocolates for me if I kept up the quantity that we order. I'm seriously tempted."

He looked shocked, "Really? That much? Can't you buy just any chocolate? I hear they're real expensive."

I had chocolate in my mouth, so Jasper answered. "Just the opposite. Everything that she eats must be the freshest and best quality we can find. The goddess in her is picky when it comes to what she consumes. Massive amounts of fresh fruit, fish, mixed nuts, very dark chocolate... custard apple milk, coconut milk, and almond milk... caviar, as well as fruit flavored waters. She loves smoked salmon tartare, plus she has caviar two or three times a day. Fruit is every time she turns around. She constantly has fruit. She snacks on the mixed nuts, and is consuming chocolate about as much as the fruit now. You need to understand that we would pay any amount named for her to get what she needs, especially her nutrition. She can have as much chocolate as she wants, but it will not affect her physical form. Her physical changes are at an end, now. The goddess is fully present, so she won't gain weight, lose weight, get cellulite, wrinkle, or anything else you can think of... but her food intake must be the freshest and best quality we can find."

Charlie was sitting there slack-jawed. I smiled as I waved the bag of chocolate in front of him. "Taste, then tell me you wouldn't pay good money for these."

He smiled before taking a piece from the bag. His eyes lit up before he smiled. "That's worth the high price. So much better than regular chocolate."

Sue laughed, saying, "Your dad has a sweet tooth, too. Now he'll be hooked on the stuff."

I gave her an apologetic smile. "If he gets a craving, just let me know. I'll take care of his chocolate habit."

Char kissed my shoulder, while Jasper kissed my arm. Peter nuzzled into my neck. I smiled at my mates' attention. Peter whispered, "After this battle is won, I feel like we should be goin' to Texas. There's good protection for the property, the house is large enough to use for gatherin's, and we can build smaller cabins for the vampires. We can get the kits, then have them all up in less than a week. We can decorate ‘em to suit each couple, same in the case of Kate and Tanya. The main wolves can take the guest bedrooms in the house, then the others can take the guesthouse. The rooms are big enough to make several bunk rooms. I feel like we really need to be in Texas, though. I know the elders won't want to travel that far, but your trainin' will be complete on their end. We can make sure the elders are set up with the equipment for video conference, so that anytime ya feel the need to talk to ‘em, ya can. You're gonna want your Dad and Sue close. They'll want to be near ya... Leah and Seth, too. Charlie ‘ll be able to take a leave of absence, so you'll be able to set ‘em up in the suite on the first floor."

I lifted Peter's chin to look intently at him. "You're getting one of your gift moments, aren't you, Baby?"

He nodded, then snuggled back into my neck. I kissed the top of his head, then looked at a confused Charlie and Sue. I spoke softly, "Peter has the gift of knowing. He gets feelings, like my instincts, Sue. They are just as strong and just as reliable as my instincts, too. Dad, that's how Peter knew he needed to come to me in Forks... how he knew I needed him. It's really important that we listen to both my and Peter's feelings on things, because there's usually a really good reason for them. The battle is November 6th, so please take the start of your leave that week. I know that's when it takes place from a goddess vision. Sue, you'll need to tell the other elders. I'll help both of you prepare as much as possible."

Charlie scratched his chin for a second in thought. "I've never taken a leave of absence. I have so much time accumulated... I could take two years if I wanted. My deputy is more than capable of taking the lead... plus we'll definitely want the time away once the battle is won. I think we should do it, Suzie. I trust Bella implicitly, so if she says we need to go, we need to."

I smiled while patting his knee. "Thanks, Dad. It means a lot to me that you trust me so much. Sue, what do you think?"

She nodded, "I think we're going to Texas after the battle. I'll talk to the other elders in the morning. They'll need to make sure that any non-imprinted wolf is cleared to go. The imprinted ones won't be going, as they can't be away from their imprints."

I nodded. "That was my only concern. I know what would happen to me, so I don't want something similar to happen to any of the wolves. They are my brothers and sisters."

I looked to Jake, "How many, and who?"

He responded, "Quil, Amber, Daniel, and Alese. Quil is my second and a good leader, so I'll make an edict for the others to follow his lead. That puts us down four, but if the property is private and has a good amount of protection at the boundary, we should be fine."

Peter assured Jake, saying, "The property is over 200 acres, and has a tall perimeter. There's an ultra sensitive camera system that covers every inch of the perimeter. The only way to get in the gate is if ya have the code, which gets changed at random intervals. Only Jasper, Char and I knew the codes before we left. The property has both woods and fields. Some would make good practice fields for the other two battles. The main house is set in the exact center of the property, which is also well protected. We have security that isn't even available to mass market. The guesthouse is less than a mile from the back of the main house. There are several caves on the property that are abandoned, and could be set as guard points for the pack. They're at good locations around the property. I know you’ll want them patrollin' in wolf form. Everythin' that we need off the property is within a thirty minute human drive. All of the pack's needs, along with Sue's and Charlie's, will be taken care of by us, so don't worry about money. Money accumulates quickly when ya live forever."

Jake looked at him in awe, then said thankfully, "I'll let the pack know so they bring enough to get them to Texas. That's very generous of you. As you can see, the rez isn't exactly rolling in dough. It will take the burden off of the families of who comes with us."

Jasper said as he tightened his arms around me, "Think nothing of it, Jake. You and the pack are family and you'll be in our home. We take care of family, plus we take care of guests of our home, so you're covered either way."

I laughed. "You'll love the main house, guys. I haven't even seen all of it yet. It's an original farmhouse from before Jasper was turned. It was his parents' home. It's huge, though. Like over 5400 square feet huge. We were only there for a few days. Most of it was finishing my goddess transformation, but what I saw was gorgeous. Detailed woodwork and moldings, beautiful wood floors, really spacious rooms. I have a lot of decorating to do to make it truly a home, but I have a wonderful place to start with. Sue, we won't have any problems keeping the pack fed from the kitchen. Top of the line appliances, and cabinet space galore."

My mates hugged me to them. Peter said, "That's the first time ya've spoken of home that way, Kitten. Your nestin' instinct is kickin' in, I think."

He kissed my shoulder, then my neck before he said, "I like this side of ya. It shows what a good mother you’ll be."

Jasper kissed my other shoulder, then I heard Charlie cough. I looked over to him, so he whispered, "But how, Bells? I've accepted that they're your mates, but they're vampires. How can they give you babies? And how would that work? Never mind... don't answer that last question."

I laughed. "Dad, part of the prophecy states that if all three great battles are won, the goddess part of me will do her mojo to allow my mates and I to have offspring. I will be able to conceive and carry their children. We don't know how many, but we know it's more than one. They will have their own destinies to fulfill. This is why it's so imperative for the pack and vampires to work as one unit. If we lose the first battle, we lose them all. There won't be any babies unless the pack and vampires on our side work as a cohesive unit. Their destinies will remain unfulfilled. Don't you see?"

He got down on his knees near me then placed my hand in his. "I will do anything you need me to, Bells. Just say the word. I know you've had a long day, so you should go spend some quiet time with these three. Make sure you're getting enough sleep..."

I coughed a bit at forgetting that not-so-small detail, "Umm, Dad? I don't sleep anymore. Goddess, remember? The closest I can come to sleep is my nightly meditative state. We call it my sleep state. I'm still fully aware and can answer you, but my body is in a deep state of meditation. I get the same amount of rest as I did when I slept, though."

He smiled bashfully. "Sorry, Bells... still new to all of this. We should sit down soon so I can get to know all the new things about you."

I hugged him, then kissed his cheek. "I'd like that, Dad. I'll see you tomorrow. Take Sue to dinner... she must be starving by now. She stuck with me almost all day today. Sue, you can tell him anything he wishes to know. I'm sure he'll talk your ear off during dinner."

She laughed and hugged me, then they walked us out. I finished the last of my water bottle, then tossed it in the recycle bin by the side of the house. Jake called the three main wolves to him, then few minutes later, we were on our way back to the cabin. "Jake, you guys are getting sleep, too, right?"

He smiled, "Yeah, Momma Bells. We trade off halfway through the night. Two patrol and two sleep, then we switch. We'll grab some food from the cabin before we patrol, then you can have your private time."

I responded with a smile, "That's fine, I need a yoga cram session before we settle in for the night. Jazz, do we have a massage oil bottle mixed with yours, Char's, and Peter's scents? We really need to get back into that. My muscles are so tense. I think it has something to do with me shaking so badly during my episode."

Jazz spoke softly after a moment of thought, "I think so too, Darlin'. If we don't have one made, it'll only take a second to make one up. We'll make sure we work all the knots out. From now on, that's one of the first things we do when we get to the cabin at night."

I nodded, resting my head on Char's shoulder. I was sitting with her this trip, as I felt the need to be close to her. When we got to the house, the pack members each made three large sandwiches, grabbing a large bag of chips, along with a two liter of Pepsi.

Wow, four Pepsi's, four large bags of chips, and 12 large sandwiches. Where do they put it all? Oh, wait. Tiny goddess here eating a month's worth of human food in a few days. Duh.
